Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Oklahoma receives seventh national award

For the past 11 years, the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association (BCBSA) has presented Brand Excellence Awards to Blue Plans that demonstrate exceptional performance. And for seven of those 11 years, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Oklahoma has earned the award.

Out of 39 Blue Cross and Blue Shield Plans nationwide, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Oklahoma was one of only 13 Plans to receive the coveted award (for 2005 business) at the BCBSA board of directors meeting earlier this week.

This is the fifth consecutive year the Plan has received the honor.

Brand Excellence Award winners are selected based on comparative scores for brand awareness, purchase interest and member experience.

“At its essence, Brand Excellence is about our commitment to Blue Service and everything that represents,” said Wyndham Kidd, president, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Oklahoma. “Our Plan’s customer loyalty measurement rose to more than 73 percent in 2005. This measurement represents the percentage of members willing to recommend Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Oklahoma to their friends and family. To me, this statistic speaks volumes.”

“The Brand Excellence Awards recognize Plans for superior performance,” said Scott P. Serota, BCBSA president and CEO. “The real winners are the customers Blue Plans serve, as the Blue brands continue to represent quality, security and peace-of-mind.”

The Brand Excellence Award program began in 1995 to recognize Blue Plans that excel in developing and enhancing the Blue Brand image. The Blue Brands are valuable assets that enable competitive strengths for each Blue Plan and helps position them to serve their customers better.

Now in its eleventh year, the awards program encourages the exceptional Plan performance and consistent, superior customer service that also helps to further the collective image of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Brands.  Blue Plan members benefit from this commitment to excellence.

The Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association is comprised of 39 independent, locally operated Blue Cross and Blue Shield Plans that collectively provide health care coverage for nearly a third of all Americans.

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Oklahoma is a Division of Health Care Service Corporation, an Independent Licensee of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association, an Association of Independent Blue Cross and Blue Shield Plans.
