Seniors benefit from Strong and Healthy event
TULSA, Okla. – Everyone plays a part in creating a strong and healthy state. That’s the message of the “Strong and Healthy Oklahoma” event sponsored by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Oklahoma and featuring entertainment by Ronny Cox – star of major motion pictures and television. The event was held from 8:30 a.m. to noon, Tuesday, June 19, at the Francis Tuttle Technology Center, Oklahoma City.
The Strong and Healthy Oklahoma initiative is a statewide effort to improve the health of all Oklahomans. As a sponsor, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Oklahoma provides a key role in promoting important messages of “eating better, moving more and being tobacco free.”
Speakers at the event included Sue Hale, executive editor of The Oklahoman and Dr. James M. Crutcher, secretary of health and commissioner of health. They discussed the current state of Oklahoma’s health and how this initiative will assist in reversing the negative trends of heart disease, adult diabetes, obesity and more. Cox, who starred in movies such as Beverly Hills Cop and RoboCop, and many TV shows, discussed the importance of an active lifestyle.
