COBRA Premium Subsidy Extended

Congress approved legislation over the weekend extending the federal subsidy of COBRA health insurance premiums. President Barack Obama signed it into law Monday afternoon.

Make Reservations to Attend the Champions of Health Awards Ceremony November 17

Make reservations to attend the 2009 Champions of Health awards at 6 p.m., Tuesday, November 17 at the Renaissance Tulsa Hotel and Convention Center. The event features KFOR-TV Flash Point's Mike Turpen as emcee, and former Flash Point co-host and current Oklahoma State University President Burns Hargis as keynote speaker.

Capitol Challenge Run/Walk Supports Family Health

The second annual Capitol Challenge run/walk fundraiser, an effort to raise health awareness among Oklahoma's communities, will be held at 8 a.m. on September 26 on the South Plaza of the State Capitol. Participants can choose between a 1 mile walk/run, 5K run and 10K run. Proceeds benefit the Oklahoma Caring Foundation, whose mission is to provide Oklahoma children with access to health services.

New Specialty Pharmacy Program Effective June 1

Triessent^® will be the new specialty pharmacy program offered by Prime Therapeutics, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Oklahoma's pharmacy benefits manager. To further develop our specialty pharmacy program services and help control the rising cost of providing coverage for specialty medications, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Oklahoma will transition members using specialty pharmacy services to Triessent effective June 1, 2009.

Chiropractic and Physical Therapy Policies Effective May 1

A Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Oklahoma internal review revealed payments have been made for chiropractic/physical therapy services not covered under our medical policy. Effective May 1, 2009, we will no longer pay for these services.
