OU Medical System Remains in BCBSOK Provider Networks

Feb. 28, 2014

Oklahoma City, OK — Medical System (OUMS) and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Oklahoma (BCBSOK) are pleased to announce an agreement on a new contract. The multi-year agreement keeps OU Medical Center, The Children's Hospital and OU Medical Center Edmond in the provider networks of BCBSOK. Both sides worked diligently throughout the entire process to come to terms that are satisfactory to both parties while ensuring high-quality care for our patients and customers. The agreement continues the longstanding relationship between OUMS and BCBSOK, and it is the best scenario for BCBS members and OUMS patients.

"We are very pleased that we are able to continue our longtime relationship with BCBSOK. We recognize the value their network brings to our patients and are proud to be a part of the network. Together, our services provide valuable options for our patients," said Chuck Spicer, President and CEO, OUMS.

"The doctors and facilities of the OU Medical System play an important role in the delivery of health care in Oklahoma. Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Oklahoma shares a similar goal of providing access to cost-effective, quality health care in Oklahoma, and I'm very pleased that we were able to reach an agreement today on behalf of our thousands of mutual patients and members," said Ted Haynes, President of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Oklahoma.
