Bob and Lee Woodruff Announced as Keynote Speakers for Champions of Health Gala

Jul. 07, 2014

Tulsa, OK — Best-selling authors and nationally acclaimed speakers, Bob and Lee Woodruff, will serve as the keynote speakers for the 2014 Champions of Health Gala, which will be held on Tuesday, September 30 at 6 p.m. at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City.

Shortly after he was appointed as co-anchor of ABC's World News Tonight in 2005, Bob Woodruff was critically injured by a roadside bomb while covering the war in Iraq. Following his intense recovery of this tragic event, Woodruff and his wife Lee wrote their best-selling book, In an Instant, which chronicles the compelling and humorous story of how their family persevered through a time of intense trauma and uncertainty. The Woodruff's have also established the Bob Woodruff Foundation  to raise money to help injured service members, veterans and their families heal from the wounds of war.

The 11th annual event will honor Champions of Health winners for making a difference and improving the health of Oklahomans. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Oklahoma Caring Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to providing children access to preventive health services including free immunizations through the Oklahoma Caring Vans.

"We are excited to welcome the Woodruff's to Oklahoma to honor our Champions of Health award winners," said Ted Haynes, chairman of the Oklahoma Caring Foundation Board and president of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Oklahoma. "We look forward to hearing their personal message of overcoming health obstacles and persevering with strength and courage. Bob and Lee's passion to share their story and to assist others is encouraging and admirable."
