2009 Champions of Health awards to feature Burns Hargis, Mike Turpen

Oklahoma State University President Burns Hargis will be reunited with his former Flash Point political talk show co-host, local attorney Mike Turpen, at the Champions of Health awards ceremony and banquet on Nov. 17. BCBSOK Grant to Fund Spanish Edition of Governor’s Strong & Healthy Guidebook

A recent report from the U.S. Census Bureau showed that Oklahoma’s Hispanic population grew by more than 55 percent since 2000. To address the health needs of this growing population, Gov. Brad Henry’s Strong and Healthy Oklahoma initiative is printing its successful Strong & Healthy Oklahoma guidebook in Spanish, thanks in part to a more than $154,000 grant from Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Oklahoma.

The private ceremony and guided tours are scheduled for 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the site of the new facility, 7777 E. 42nd Place (42nd and S. Memorial), Tulsa, Okla.
