Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Oklahoma Hires New Medical Director

Tulsa-based pediatrician Dr. James Hendricks was recently named for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Oklahoma's new medical director of medical services.

Board-certified by the American Board of Pediatrics, Hendricks comes to Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Oklahoma after more than 30 years in private practice. Hendricks earned his undergraduate degree in chemistry and biology at Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, Kentucky, after which he attended medical school at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. He conducted his pediatric residency at Children's Medical Center in Dallas, Texas.

A fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, Hendricks has served on the board of the Oklahoma Chapter for a number of years as vice president, president, and currently the executive board. He is also a member of the Oklahoma State Medical Association and Tulsa County Medical Society. He also serves as a Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Oklahoma School of Community Medicine.

“Dr. Hendricks is a pillar in the pediatric community,” said Dr. Joseph Cunningham, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Oklahoma’s vice president of health care management and chief medical officer. “He has been on virtually every hospital committee possible, and has more than 30 years of experience in private practice in Tulsa.”

Hendricks lives in Tulsa with his wife, Debbie. The Hendricks have been blessed with three children, Joshua, Jon and Katherine.
