Reader: 'LifeTimes' helped identify my heart problem

'LifeTimes' helped identify my heart problem

A reader wrote recently to say a "LifeTimes" article may have helped her avoid serious heart problems -- or even death.

"Your article on angina made me tell the doctor at my yearly physical about the pressure I had this spring when mowing my yard," wrote Emily Strum of Illiopolis, Ill. She celebrated her 80th birthday earlier this year."

"You probably saved my life or a full-blown heart attack. I knew it wasn't right to feel that pressure, but I also had a 'heavy shoulder' feeling I thought was from an old injury. Now that is gone also! I never smoked or drank but inherited most of (my health problems)."

"Thanks to you and my wonderful doctors!"

Let us hear from other readers

Congratulations, Emily, on taking the right steps to promote good health!

Have you ever called your doctor after reading a "LifeTimes" article alerting you to a possible problem? Or maybe you just felt that something "wasn't quite right" and it was time to pay a visit to your health care professional.

If so, send your stories to "LifeTimes" via email or letter for possible publication in future issues. Be sure to include your name, address, and phone number.
