Oklahoma Temporary High Risk Pool
(Oklahoma's Pre-Existing Condition Insurance Plan)
Please be advised that beginning March 3, 2013, the Oklahoma Temporary High Risk Pool (OTHRP) — Oklahoma's Pre-Existing Condition Insurance Plan (PCIP) — is suspending acceptance of new enrollment applications until further notice. OTHRP will continue to provide coverage to people currently enrolled in OTHRP.
Note: If you lost PCIP coverage during the past 6 months because you moved from another state to Oklahoma, you may be eligible to re-enroll in OTHRP/PCIP in Oklahoma. Please call 877-885-3717 or TTY 800-735-2989 from 8:00 a.m. – 5 p.m., if you believe you are eligible.
The State of Oklahoma has a Consumer Assistance Program (OKCAP) which helps consumers find health insurance and resolve health insurance problems. OKCAP is facilitated by the Oklahoma Insurance Department (OID) and you may contact OKCAP at 800-522-0071 or send an e-mail to Ombudsman@oid.ok.gov. Also, we encourage you to visit http://finder.healthcare.gov to explore your other health care options.
The Health Insurance Market Place
Starting next year, the Affordable Care Act is designed to guarantee that all Americans regardless of their health status or pre-existing conditions will finally have access to quality, affordable coverage. The Act provides that people will be able to apply for affordable health insurance coverage choices in Health Insurance Marketplaces when open enrollment begins (at this time scheduled for October 1, 2013), and should offer a choice of quality, affordable health plans with coverage set to begin on January 1, 2014. Visit www.healthcare.gov to learn more about the Marketplace.
