Providers Can Submit Paper Claims Using Both Versions of the CMS-1500 Paper Claim Form
In previous issues of the Blue Review, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Oklahoma (BCBSOK) reminded providers of the implementation of the revised CMS -1500 form (version 02/12). This revised form replaces the CMS-1500 form version 08/05.
BCBSOK previously announced that the implementation timeline for accepting the new form (version 02/12) and rejecting the previous version (08/05) would follow the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid (CMS) timeline for Medicare. Medicare will only accept claims on the new version after April 1, 2014. Currently, BCBSOK will continue to accept both versions of the paper CMS-1500: the current paper CMS-1500 form (version 08/05) and the revised CMS-1500 form (version 02/12). An updated timeframe for the discontinuation of the CMS-1500 form (version 08/05) will be announced in an upcoming issue of the Blue Review.
