Tulsa, OK – Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Oklahoma's (BCBSOK) Mobile Assistance Center (MAC) will participate in the 'Festival Americas' event on Saturday, Aug. 27 at Guthrie Green (111 E. MB Brady St.) in Tulsa. The event, which will be held from 4 to 10 p.m., will feature Latin music, food, vendors and an outdoor art market. BCBSOK is a sponsor of the 2016 'Festival Americas Summer Series' events, presented by La Semana del Sur newspaper and Guthrie Green.

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Oklahoma Names New Director of Community Affairs

Oklahoma City, OK — Brooke Townsend has been named Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Oklahoma's (BCBSOK) director of Community Affairs. In this role, she will also serve as the executive director of the Oklahoma Caring Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization administered as an in-kind gift by BCBSOK to improve the health of Oklahoma children through vaccinations and access to preventive health care. Townsend has assumed the position formerly held by Paula Huck, who retired on June 30 after 15 years with the company.

2016 Champions of Health Winners Announced

Tulsa, OK — Veterans Corner, Inc. has been named the recipient of the Dr. Rodney L. Huey Memorial Champion of Oklahoma Health, the highest honor of the Champions of Health awards. The non-profit organization, which is housed in Newcastle, is comprised of volunteer veterans who are dedicated to helping other veterans and their spouses. Whether it's getting transportation to a doctor appointment, seeking help with a Veterans Affairs (VA) claim, or providing non-perishable food to families, Veterans Corner, Inc. has found a way to give back to those who have fought for our freedom. As the overall winner, Veterans Corner, Inc. will receive a $15,000 grant which will be presented at the 2016 Champions of Health gala on Sept. 27 at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City.

Pilot Program Yields Success for BCBSOK Primary Care Providers

Tulsa, OK — The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) recently announced that the Greater Tulsa Region was the only participant, out of seven total, to achieve net savings in year two of the CMS Innovation Center's Comprehensive Primary Care Initiative (CPC).
