Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Oklahoma Announces Volunteer of the Year
Tulsa, OK — Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Oklahoma (BCBSOK) is proud to announce Kevin Holmes has been named employee Volunteer of the Year. A native and resident of Tulsa, Holmes has been with the company for 26 years and currently works as senior manager of business development and the Mobile Assistance Center.
Holmes served as Chairman of BCBSOK's Blue Corps Employee Volunteer Steering Committee in 2014 and 2015. Under his leadership, BCBSOK has seen a significant increase in employee volunteerism. Blue Corps is an internal organization charged with making a positive impact on the community through volunteer events, fundraisers, material drives and individual engagement in the community.
"I volunteer because it is the right thing to do," said Holmes. "There are so many needs across our communities. It is a blessing to me when I am able to give of my time and resources to help someone."
Holmes has a longstanding personal commitment to mentoring youth and has been an active volunteer for Junior Achievement for 18 years, as well as a youth director at his church for 25 years. He also volunteers with other organizations, including the American Red Cross, Tulsa Area United Way Day of Caring and LIFE Senior Services. His energy and enthusiasm are contagious, and his commitment to serving organizations, both within the BCBSOK community and his own community, continues to inspire fellow employees and peers to get involved.
"Kevin is an excellent example of what it means to give back to our communities," said Ted Haynes, President of BCBSOK. "His enthusiasm is contagious, and it shows in his positive impact on our employee volunteer efforts."
Outside of work and his volunteer efforts, Holmes enjoys spending time with his wife of 30 years, Deanna, as well as their four children and three grandchildren.
