Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Oklahoma Awards Scholarships at Oklahoma Youth Expo
Oklahoma City, OK — Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Oklahoma (BCBSOK) has awarded four- $5,000 Health and Wellness scholarships to high school seniors involved in the Oklahoma Youth Expo organization on March 17.
The recipients of the 2016 scholarships are as follows: Chelsea Allen of Oologah; Hunter Dugan of Tecumseh; Madyson Arthur and Katie Sue Scifres, both of Chickasha.
The students were selected to receive a Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Oklahoma Health and Wellness scholarship based on academics, community involvement and their aspiration to attend an Oklahoma Higher Education Institution in pursuit of a medical degree, with the intention of focusing on health in rural Oklahoma, after graduation.
"Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Oklahoma understands the importance of access to health care and providers in rural parts of the state. We hope this scholarship program will encourage college graduates with health-related degrees, to work in non-metro areas and serve the people in those communities. Together, we can make a positive impact on rural health outcomes in our state," said Ted Haynes, President of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Oklahoma.
Congratulations to these outstanding students, and we send our best wishes for their future academic successes.
