Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Oklahoma Partners with Shawnee Tribe to Provide Health Insurance Education in Miami
Miami, OK — Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Oklahoma's (BCBSOK) Mobile Assistance Center (MAC) will be in Miami on March 22 to offer help understanding the Affordable Care Act and the Health Insurance Marketplace. The MAC will be at the Shawnee Tribe Community Building (29 S. Highway 69 A, Miami, OK 74354) from 1–2:30 p.m. for an educational presentation, in partnership with the Shawnee Tribe.
This event is free and open to the public. BCBSOK customer advocates and community outreach specialists will be available to provide assistance to visitors with health insurance questions and needs. Customer service support will also be available for current members who may have questions about their BCBSOK coverage.
Tribal citizens with a C.D.I.B card, who are part of a federally recognized tribe, have the ability to enroll in coverage on the Health Insurance Marketplace at any time of the year, outside of the standard Open Enrollment period.
"The Affordable Care Act provides American Indians with opportunities to compare and buy health insurance in a new way," said BCBSOK President Ted Haynes. "Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Oklahoma wants to help people understand their options so they have an opportunity to enroll and choose a plan that's right for them."
A number of resources are available to learn about health insurance and how to choose the right plan. Visit bcbsok.com or call 866-881-0475 for more information.
