Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Oklahoma Names New Latino Community Outreach Specialist

Apr. 05, 2016
Jessica Lozano, Latino Community Outreach Specialist

Tulsa, OK — In an effort to better support Latino communities across the state, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Oklahoma (BCBSOK) has introduced a new Latino Community Outreach Specialist, Jessica Lozano.

In this role, Lozano will support collaborative opportunities throughout Oklahoma's Spanish speaking population. Lozano's position is an extension of BCBSOK’s Community Affairs department led by Paula Huck, Director of Community Affairs.

"Jessica brings the right mix of skills and expertise to our team and will be invaluable as we continue our focus on Latino outreach. She’s part of the Latino community and speaks fluent Spanish, which is an essential tool to effectively reach Latinos across the state," said Huck.

Lozano's career includes over 15 years of customer service and relationship management experience, including her most recent role as a customer advocate at BCBSOK's customer service center in Tulsa — a position she has held since 2009. Lozano has helped support BCBSOK's Mobile Assistance Center (MAC) as a Spanish language translator and she'll continue to collaborate with the MAC in her new role. Lozano will also work with BCBSOK’s Public Relations team to serve as a bilingual media spokesperson.

She currently serves as vice president of BCBSOK's Latinos for Advancement Business Resource Group, an internal organization that helps promote and support diversity in the workplace and outreach in the community. In her spare time, Lozano enjoys exercising, spending time outside with her son and planning an annual trip to Mexico to visit her family.

Lozano and the MAC will be at the Integris Hispanic Health Fair in Oklahoma City on April 9. The event is free and open to the public, and will be held from 9 a.m. to noon at the Moore Norman Technology Center (13301 S. Pennsylvania Ave., Oklahoma City, OK 73170). Individuals may stop by the MAC to receive help with their health insurance questions and needs. BCBSOK employees will be available to explain the requirements of the Affordable Care Act, as well as assist current members who may have questions about their coverage. Lozano will serve as a Spanish language translator; additional bilingual resources will be available.
