Hello State of Oklahoma retirees!  My name is Nancy Sobocinski and I am your Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Oklahoma Medicare Benefits Account Executive. Some of you may recognize me from last year’s option period meetings. In 2019 I was fortunate enough to drive from meeting to meeting through Oklahoma’s beautiful countryside and was looking forward to doing it again this year and visit with all of you to discuss your Medicare needs. Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 restrictions, I am not allowed to do that.

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Oklahoma wants to make choosing your Medicare plan easy for you. When choosing a health plan, you should consider a few things: how affordable it is? Does it provide access to care when and where you need it? And is it available 24/7 to answer any questions you might have? These Blue Cross plans check all those boxes and more!

This year we are offering State of Oklahoma retirees the retiree group medical supplemental plan BlueSecure, along with Blue Cross Group MedicareRx prescription drug coverage.

Hop on my BlueSecure and Blue Cross Group MedicareRx bus and let me tell you more about why you should consider these plans.

While Medicare doesn’t need to approve your enrollment in this plan, you do need to be enrolled in Medicare Part A and Part B to use it.

Medicare will cover its share of your doctor and hospital bills. A BlueSecure plan will fill some of the gaps for medical and hospital care that Medicare doesn’t cover, like coinsurance, copays, and deductibles.

You only pay the Part B medical deductible. Always consult your Summary of Benefits to see the costs you are responsible for. The 2020 Part B Deductible is $198. CMS usually releases the new Part B deductibles in November. This video is being recorded in August, therefore we suggest looking at the cms.gov website in November for the new Part B deductible.

With BlueSecure, you do not need to pick a primary care provider. You can see any doctor that accepts Medicare. There are no referrals needed and no in or out of network hassle.

With Blue Cross Group MedicareRx, you will have no prescription drug deductible. You will only pay copays for your prescriptions. If you choose to use a preferred pharmacy, some of your copays will be $0. And, your prescription drug coverage will stay the same throughout the coverage gap and during the catastrophic coverage phase. Your copays stay the same throughout the benefit year. Before you enroll, you can search your medications online at www.myprime.com.

Blue365 is a discount program offered to all members. You can receive discounts on fitness, healthy eating, personal care and more!

The last item I want to address are the advertisements we all see on TV during this time of year for Medicare Supplement plans. Those plans on TV are considered individual plans that a person would buy on their own. They are different from plans you are being offered through the State of Oklahoma as a retiree. The State of Oklahoma plans are customized group plans that are only offered to eligible retirees of the State of Oklahoma.

We understand choosing your health care coverage can be a difficult decision and you have multiple options. We want to make it as simple as we can for you. If you have any questions, please call us at 1.833.418.0443 TTY 711 or visit www.bcbsok.com/state for more coverage details.

This year make an easy decision, go with the BlueSecure and Blue Cross Group MedicareRx.

As we look towards a new year in 2021, I look forward to seeing and visiting with you. Until then, stay safe, healthy and happy!
