Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Oklahoma Names New Latino Community Outreach Specialist in Oklahoma City

To better support Latino communities across the state, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Oklahoma (BCBSOK) has added a new Latino Community Outreach Specialist to their Oklahoma City office.

Maria Martinez will support collaborative opportunities throughout Oklahoma's Spanish speaking populations. Martinez’s position is an extension of BCBSOK’s Community Affairs department led by Brooke Townsend, director of community affairs.

"Maria brings the right mix of skills and expertise to our team and will be invaluable as we continue our focus on Latino outreach. She’s part of the Latino community and her expertise will ensure that we can better serve our members," said Townsend.

Previously, Martinez served as a Caring Van specialist with The Oklahoma Caring Foundation in Oklahoma City — a position she has held since 2016. As a Caring Van specialist, she worked with community agencies to improve access to immunizations within the Spanish speaking community in Oklahoma City. In her current position, she will also work with BCBSOK’s Public Relations team to serve as a bilingual media spokesperson.

She is a member of the Greater Oklahoma City Hispanic Chamber of Commerce’s Latino Leadership OKC Class V. In her spare time, Martinez enjoys spending time with her family.
