Special Enrollment Available for Oklahomans Who Qualify

Job loss or income change are a few of the events that allow people to enroll for coverage

TULSA, Oklahoma – Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Oklahoma (BCBSOK), Oklahoma’s largest member-owned health insurer, reminds Oklahomans they may have an option to obtain an individual health insurance plan if they have lost their coverage as a result of the economic impact of COVID-19.

Uninsured Oklahomans who have recently experienced the following life events are eligible to enroll in an individual plan within 60 days of the event:

  • Lost health care coverage due to job loss, a decrease in work hours, or end of COBRA coverage
  • Change in income or household status
  • Moved residences
  • Got married
  • Had a baby or adopted a child

Citizens of a federally-recognized tribe are eligible to enroll year-round, and financial assistance may be available for those who qualify.

“Many of us know a friend, family member or neighbor that has been directly impacted by COVID-19 who may have lost their health insurance coverage. We want Oklahomans to know we are committed to providing quality, cost-effective coverage to as many people as possible during these unprecedented times,” said BCBSOK President Joseph R. Cunningham, M.D.

The BCBSOK Mobile Assistance Center (MAC) is standing by to provide one-on-one assistance to help eligible Oklahomans enroll in an individual plan and see if they qualify for financial assistance to pay for premiums. To receive individual help from the BCBSOK MAC team, visit EnrollNowOK.com and click “Have a Rep Contact Me." Bilingual assistance is also available.
