Winners Announced for Champions of Health Gala Featuring Erin Andrews

TULSA, Oklahoma — Professional football sideline reporter and entrepreneur Erin Andrews will serve as the speaker at the 2022 Champions of Health Gala, to be held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 27, at the Cox Business Convention Center in Tulsa.

Presented by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Oklahoma (BCBSOK), the 19th annual Champions of Health Gala will honor individuals and organizations working to improve the health of Oklahomans. All sponsorship proceeds from the event benefit The Oklahoma Caring Foundation, Inc., a 501(c)(3) organization that provides Oklahoma children with immunizations at no charge through its Caring Van program.

“More than ever, we need to support the individuals and organizations doing innovative work to improve health outcomes for all Oklahomans,” said BCBSOK President Stephania Grober. “The Champions of Health Gala is an opportunity to showcase the deserving winners and finalists transforming the health of our state.”

The CARE Center — an Oklahoma City-based child advocacy center committed to helping children find their voice and begin to heal after abuse — is the recipient of the Dr. Rodney L. Huey Memorial Champion of Oklahoma Health, the highest honor of the Champions of Health Awards. Since its inception in 1991, The CARE Center has helped children share their abuse stories in a safe environment for investigations and connected families with resources that remove barriers to the healing process.

As the overall winner, The CARE Center receives a $15,000 grant. Winners in remaining categories receive a $5,000 grant, while finalists receive $1,000. Additional winners and finalists include:

Finalist: Volunteers of America Oklahoma

Champion of the Uninsured Winner: Dr. Rieger Wood – Founder of Oklahoma Mission of Mercy
Finalist: Oklahoma Project Woman

Community Health Champion Winner: City Care
Finalist: Hunger Free Oklahoma

About the Speaker
Erin Andrews is an NFL sideline reporter, television personality, and actress. As part of FOX Sports’ A Team, Andrews reports for ‘FOX NFL Sunday’ and ‘NFL Thursday Night Football.’ In 2010, she placed third on the tenth season of ABC's ‘Dancing with the Stars’ and later co-hosted the show for 11 seasons alongside Tom Bergeron. She recently launched her new women’s apparel line, WEAR by Erin Andrews. Andrews was diagnosed with cervical cancer in 2016 and uses her platform to spread awareness for the importance of cancer screenings.
