REMINDER: Services Rendered by Providers to Related Members and/or Self

Standard Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Oklahoma (BCBSOK) benefits exclude coverage for services and supplies received by a BCBSOK member from a provider in the member’s immediate family. Unless specifically stated otherwise under the member’s plan, BCBSOK considers “immediate family” to include persons within two degrees of consanguinity or affinity to the BCBSOK member: a parent, child, sibling, grandparent, grandchild, spouse or domestic partner, parent-in-law, or daughter/son-in-law. “Step” relationships are similarly included. BCBSOK expects providers not to submit claims for theses excluded services.

Benefits will be determined once a claim is received and will be based upon, among other things, the member’s eligibility, any claims received during the interim period and the terms of the member’s certificate of coverage applicable on the date services were rendered.
