The Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Oklahoma (BCBSOK) Prescription Drug List (also known as a Formulary) is designed to serve as a reference guide to pharmaceutical products. However, the drug list is not intended to be a substitute for a doctor's clinical knowledge and judgment. In all cases, a doctor is expected to select the most appropriate drug therapy for their patient.
Prescription drug benefits through BCBSOK may be based on either the standard drug list or the generics plus drug list. If so, how much a member pays out-of-pocket for prescription drugs is determined by whether their medication is on this list.
If members are unsure about which therapeutic class a drug belongs to, they may try the search function. However, the correct spelling of any drug for which they are searching is necessary. If a specific drug does not appear when entered into the search function (and they are certain it has been spelled correctly), it is most likely a non-preferred medication.
