Important Update: Medicare Advantage and PDP Offerings
April 1, 2026
Applies to Medicare Markets
Select Medicare Advantage Prescription Drug and Prescription Drug Plans will no longer be commissionable for new sales starting May 1, 2026.
We regularly review our Medicare product portfolio. As a result of these reviews, plan updates can occur as we assess performance and administrative factors. With this in mind, we are refining our strategy.
What you need to know:
- For PDP, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services rules limit how many PDPs our parent company can have after its acquisition. To meet those rules, we are moving our PDP contracts to a new legal entity (a process called novation) and then combining them. This is all part of following CMS’ requirements for PDP consolidation.
- Members will receive a letter that explains a plan novation to Medco Containment Life Insurance Company on or about April 1, 2026. This change does not alter member benefits, provider networks or formularies.
- We have made the decision to remove broker commissions from certain Medicare Advantage Prescription Drug and Medicare Prescription Drug Plans in certain geographies.
- Refer to your Medicare Plan Amendment for the updated compensation grid.
- This change will not impact commissions for Employer Group Waiver Plans.
- We will continue to pay renewal commissions for members who remain in one of our existing PPO or HMO plans that were previously commissionable.
You are a valued partner to us, and we do not make any decisions about compensation lightly – that is why we are providing you with advance notice. We remain committed to supporting our members and broker partners.
